NEW DELHI: A 61-year-old retired National School of Drama teacher has been booked on charges of sexual assault. The police said that no arrest has been made and investigation is underway.
A senior police officer privy to the case said that the complainant approached the police a few days ago and gave a written statement alleging that Suresh Shetty who had come as guest faculty touched her inappropriately during the practice session.
The complainant said that during the session, the accused asked to dramatize a scene wherein he asked her to fall on him and he’ll hold her. “She said that when she denied, he scolded her. She said she felt very uneasy for the next few minutes,” the officer said.
Based on the woman’s complaint, the police registered a case under section 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code on Thursday.
“The case in being investigated and action will be taken after thorough probe,” the officer said.
