Girls charge TRS leader's son with sexual harassment

| | Hyderabad

Dharmapuri Sanjay, former Mayor of Nizamabad and son of senior TRS leader D Srinivas has landed in a soup with a group of students of a local Nursing college complaining to State Home Minister N Narasimha Reddy of sexual harassment. The girls who met the Home Minister in Hyderabad under the leadership of Progressive Women’s organisation president Sandhya alleged that Sanjay had tried to sexually abuse two students on July 2.

The delegation alleged that Sanjay used his clout to deprive the two girls of accommodation in a private hostel in Nizamabad. They demanded protection for the two girls so they could continue their studies.

The Home Minister immediately contacted Nizamabad police commissioner Kartikeya to probe the allegations and take necessary action.

Meanwhile Sanjay has denied the allegation. Talking to the media in Nizamabad on Friday he said that  the allegations were a political conspiracy to destroy his career in politics.

“I don’t know any nursing college students. I have nothing to do with the college. I had handed over the management of the Shankary Nursing college to others long ago”, he said.

He said he will extend full cooperation in the police probe.

The episode has come to the light close on the heels of a public spat between Sanjay’s father and TRS Rajya Sabha member D Srinivas and the local MP K Kavitha. Many local TRS leaders had alleged that Srinivas was hobnobbing with the BJP as his younger had joined the saffron party. Kavitha had supported their demand that action should be taken against Srinivas but the matter later died down.
