A 55-year-old person was killed and five others sustained injuries in a group clash over a land dispute at Baliakani village under Erasama block in Jagatsinghpur district on Wednesday night. The deceased was identified as Rabindra Swain. While one of the critically injured was referred to the SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack four others are undergoing treatment in the Erasama hospital. Erasama PS IIC Prashant Kumar Majhi said two cases have been registered following complaints from both the sides and police have detained four persons for interrogation.

Police forces have been deployed in the village to prevent any untoward incident, added Majhi.

Sources said one Braja Kishore Rout’s farm land was damaged by deceased Rabindra Swain’s goat on Wednesday. In a fit of rage enraged Braja Kishore along with her wife Soumyashree and brother Rajkishore Rout had beaten deceased’s son Hapina.

Later, when Rabindra went to Braja Kishore’s house to inquire about the matter, Braja Kishore’s sons attacked Rabindra.

He was rushed to the Ersama hospital where he was declared brought dead.
