Rahul: Huge opportunity to expose government

New Delhi : Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Saturday set into motion the party’s preparations for the polls by holding second meeting of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) in a fortnight to guide the party workers in exposing the Modi government.

The CWC will meet regularly many times in the next one-and-a-half months to gear up for the elections, Congress general secretary Ashok Gehlot told a Press conference after a 4-hour CWC meeting, listing five issues it focused for kicking off a nationwide campaign in tandem with all like-minded parties.

In a tweet after the meeting, Rahul said: “We discussed the political situa-tion in the country and the huge opportunity for the Congress to highlight issues of corruption and failure of the government to provide jobs to our youth.”

Elaborating it, Gehlot and Congress chief spokesman Randeep Singh Surjewala said the CWC meeting also discussed Assam”s National Register of Citizens (NRCs), Rafel fighter aircraft scam, bank frauds, deteriorating economy, unemployment and the agriculture crisis.

Surjewala said Rahul has been raising the Rafel scam since the Gujarat Assembly elections and he raised it also in the Lok Sabha in the no-confidence debate, but the Prime Minister and the Defence Minister refused to reveal the price since Modi agreed for a price of Rs 1670 crore which is three times the deal made by the UPA government for Rs 526 crore.

He said it is such a huge corruption that PM Modi is not ready to explain why the offset contract of Rs 30,000 crore in the deal to the public sector Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) was cancelled and then given to a private company not having any experience of manufacturing the aircraft and still worse the same company has been given a contract of Rs 1 lakh crore for maintenance of the aircraft for 50 years.
