NOIDA: A team of the traffic police and the traffic cell of the Noida Authority on Saturday visited multiple points of the city and identified problems which can be sorted out using small engineering interventions. The team led by Rajeev Tyagi, incharge of the
Noida traffic cell and SP (traffic) Anil Jha visited different points between Sector 14A and Kisan Chowk and identified points where jersey barriers are required for closing cuts in medians, areas where wrongside driving can be sorted out by closing the gaps in the medians, points where overhead barriers are needed, etc.
The traffic police has suggested that the cuts between the median of the road connecting the Dalit Prerna Sthal and the Mahamaya flyover be closed and the cuts between the median on the Noida-Delhi link road opposite Sector 15A sector be closed too.
Similarly, it has been decided that the Hoshiarpur T-point where two-wheelers tend to drive on the wrongside due to a lengthy gap between the three pillars located on the T-point be covered. “There is a lot of extra gap between the three pillars which encourages those travelling from Sector 71 side to travel on the wrong side towards Gijhore. Similarly, there is a lot of gap between the traffic signals at Balaknath T-point which encourages wrong side driving from Sarfabad village. The median needs to be raised to a height here,” the officer said.
Similarly, the traffic police suggested that barriers were required at Bhangel intersection. The cut on the Kulesra to Phool Mandi road also should be closed, they said.
Tyagi told TOI that jersey barriers will be set up at the Hoshiarpur cut and Balaknath cut. “The small interventions which can be completed in a day will be done by Sunday as it is a lean day for traffic. As far as the other cost-involving projects are concerned, like raising median height, etc, they will be taken up in due course of time,” he said.
One of the cuts on the Noida—Delhi link road near gate number 2 of Sector 15A where a controversial U-turn had come in May, has also been temporarily closed.
