Mizo students body slams govt for no step to prevent influx

Zirlai Pawl (MZP), the apex students body, today slammed government for doing nothing to prevent possibility of illegal influx from after publication of National Registration of Citizens (NRC) and threatened to erect check posts along the border.

President L Ramdinliana Renthlei accused the state government of remaining a mute spectators while neighbouring state governments beefed up security and deployed additional forces along their borders with in view of the NRC publication by the on July 30 which left out more than 40 lakh people.

"We will erect border check posts manned by students at Vairengte, Bairabi and Saipum if the fails to deploy additional policemen along the Assam border by August 15," he told reporters.

He added that the wanted the government not to issue Inner Line Permit to those not included in the NRC and take great care on the issue.
