BHAGALPUR: Bhagalpur zonal IG Sushil M Khopde on Saturday directed the SPs of nine districts — Bhagalpur, Banka, Naugachia police district, Munger, Lakhisarai, Sheikhpura, Begusarai, Khagaria and Jamui — to monitor all the
pending cases and reduce their number by 10% every month.
Khopde also told the SPs to direct their subordinates to focus on quick disposal of cases and check the incidents of crime in the zone.
Addressing media persons at a press conference, the zonal IG revealed that there were altogether 13,937 pending cases in the zone till May this year.
“I have directed the SPs concerned to make sure that cases are disposed of quickly so that legal proceedings can begin,” he said, adding notorious Maoist Shibu Malakar was arrested from Teghra in
Begusarai district recently and forwarded to jail on July 31.
According to Khopde, at least 880 criminals involved in several cases were arrested in the zone last week as part of a special drive.
