UP STF arrests four for hacking UPSRTC website, book free tickets

LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (UPSTF) on Friday arrested 4 hackers who booked free online tickets/ reservation for buses on www.upsrtconline.co.in website by compromising payment gateway traffic.
Those arrested were two B. Tech students- Amit Kumar of Lucknow and Mudit Sharma of Kanpur and two others are juvenile studying in Class 12 and one doing diploma course in polytechnic college in Lucknow.

All these techies used ‘Burp Suite’, ‘Fiddler and Tamper Data tools’, softwares to manipulate parameters in Response Code being generated from Payment Gateway server which is used to travel in plain text. The miscreants used free-trail versions of these software to compromise the website of the UPSRTC. Sleuths of STF also said that the racket has Pan-India footprints.

Additional superintendent of police (STF) Triveni Singh said that the miscreants have also created a Facebook page and few close WhatsApp groups to share bugs, exploits and vulnerabilities of commercial websites among themselves. These social media groups were under the scanner of STF. He also said that some inconsistencies have also been found in the website of Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation.
