Idcol CMD Suresh Chandra Mohapatra came on a two-day visit to the Idcol Ferro Chrome and Alloys Limited (IFCAL) here on Thursday.

Notably, Mohapatra had recently suspended IFCAL former MD Sachi Kanta Mohapatra on corruption charges and expelled five Assistant Managers of the plant. Workers led by former advisor of the Biju Patnaik Thika Sramik Sangha Dushmanta Kumar Rout presented a memorandum to Mohapatra demanding a high-level probe into alleged irregularities in the IFCAL and steps for protecting two plants,  IFCAL at Jajpur Road and Idcol Kalinga Iron Works Limited at Talangi Chromite Mines, Sukinda. “Rampant corruptions occurred in the two plants during the tenure of former CMD Prasanta Kumar Nayak. We hope the Idcol CMD will conduct a probe into the illegalities and punish the errant,” said Rout.

He alleged that rampant corruptions occurred in establishment of jigging plant, bricketting, screening of raw materials, illegal sale of slag and chromite ore, transformer repairing,  giving of excess over duties to some leading union leaders, un authorise use of vehicles and appointment 11 Assistant Managers.

Rout too brought to the notice of the CMD that dates of birth of labourers have been recorded wrongly by HR officials.
