Kabul to avail
treatment for
Hepatitis B, but the
high cost of treatment forced him to turn into a
drug mule. In his latest trip, he concealed around Rs 8 crore of drugs in his trolley baggage and planned to supply it to a distributor here. However, the Crime Branch intercepted him and seized
2 kg heroin.
Additional commissioner (crime) Rajiv Ranjan said the accused has been identified as Mohammed Nadir Khadim (36). “His father was a farmer in Afghanistan and the family runs a general store there. Due to cash crunch, he took to drug peddling,” Ranjan said.
The inter-state cell of Crime Branch received information that an Afghan national had come to India on medical visa and indulging in drug trafficking. His whereabouts were located to Hauz Rani in Malviya Nagar.
“Inspector Neeraj Chaudhary’s team received a tip-off that the suspect would come to Bhagat Singh Park to supply heroin to his contact. A trap was laid and the accused was arrested. An FIR under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act was registered,” said Rajesh Deo, DCP (crime).
Later, Khadim told police that he had been diagnosed with Hepatitits B 12 years ago and had been visiting India for treatment since 2016. He met a fellow Afghan national, Mustafa,who offered him big money for smuggling drugs.
