more-in

District Police Chief (DPC) T. Narayanan on Friday inaugurated the e-VIP quick passport verification programme in the district.

Mr. Narayanan launched the online police verification programme by handing over mobile phones to field verification officers at a function at the district police headquarters here in the afternoon.

The DPC also deputed a civil police officer each as field verification officers at all 22 police stations in the district.

Under the new system, the particulars of the applicant would be sent from the passport office to the District Crime Records Bureau through a web application evip.keralapolice.gov.in for crime verification.

The files would be digitally despatched to the field verification officer concerned through a mobile app.

The officer, through the mobile app, would process the application, contact the applicant, verify the documents, and integrate the digital signature of the applicant into the form.

He would sent the report to the District Special Branch without delay, Mr. Narayanan said.
