Watch A Tuned, 720PS BMW M5 Race Mustangs, Porsches And McLarens

BMW has an entirely new M5 out since last summer. It has more power than some previous generation supercars and, for the first time ever, an all-wheel drive system.

Officially, it needs just 3.4 seconds for the 0-100km/h (0-62mph) run and its top speed goes all the way up to 305km/h (190mph) with the M Driver’s Package.

With the right know-how, however, and a bag full of cash, its predecessor, the M5 F10 can be just as quick or, in rarer cases, even quicker.

The example depicted on video at the end of the article, it’s just as powerful as a McLaren 720S. The car’s twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 was tuned to deliver a whopping 720PS (710hp / 530kW), up from the stock 560PS (552hp / 412kW) that makes it 1 second slower to 100km/h (62mph) than the F90.

Unfortunately, there’s no word on how much time this tuned F10 needs to reach the 100km/h (62mph) mark, although we could be looking at just a little over 3 seconds.

We do know, however, that it can reach almost 260km/h (162mph) from a rolling start of 50km/h (31mph), after 1,000m (3,280 feet), and that it’s just as fast, or even faster, than most of its challengers.

Speaking of which, the M5 in question had to face not only a Ford Mustang, but a Porsche 911 and a McLaren 570S, too, among others. You can find out how it fared against its rivals by clicking on the video right below.
