The robbers also allegedly tied and gagged the deceased’s 33-year-old daughter Veena, who lived with him. The incident came to light when the woman managed to free herself and found her father Ajit Lal murdered in the other room. She found cash and gold kept in the almirah missing.
Veena informed the neighbours, who then called up the police. Acting on Veena’s complaint, police have started investigations after registering a murder case at Model Town police station. Panipat superintendent of police (SP) Manbir Singh said the crime teams were rushed to the spot.
“We have collected some vital clues that may help the investigating team in cracking the case. We are also taking technical help as well. Our priority is to hand over the body to the family for performing the last rites,” said the SP.
According to information, the incident occurred at midnight when the father duo were asleep. Veena told police that somebody gagged her mouth and tied her hands and feet. She claimed to have heard gunshots as well. She said after some time she managed to flee herself and found her father dead.
The CCTV grab of the cameras installed in and around the house have been collected.
