Aishwarya Rai Bachchan opens up about her heart breaking body shamming experience after Aradhaya was born

Bollywood stars often come across embarrassing comments on body shamming on social media.   Many actresses come out and speak about the issue, but some remain mum. Recently Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in an interview with Rajeev Masand opened up about the topic ‘body shamming’ and shared her experience, when trolls fat shammed her on social media after her daughter Aradhaya was born.

“While it speaks about body-shaming, to me, it’s about self-esteem which I think is the larger topic. What’s the ‘F’ word that everyone’s worried about today? Fat! We very politely say overweight but truth is, it depends on the context. If you are addressing someone as that while being judgemental, of course it is a social evil, but even calling someone overweight, over and over again, would be just as bad!” she said.

“Body-shaming is just one aspect at a certain period in my life. The reason I am able to handle it is because I have faced judgement in my life for so long. Articles have often said that ‘oh! she has had a fairly tale life’, my question is how to do you assume?” The actress also revealed that while she was in architecture school studying, she had already started modelling and people in the school, including teachers would often take a dig at her choice of making it as a professional model while still finishing up her education.

Aishwarya also said that all those judgmental experiences made her resilient to judgement of any kind “People think that if you look a certain way, you won’t be judged. But, believe me, irrespective of how you look, everybody gets faces judgement for something or the other,” – the actress concluded.
