Another fake cement unit busted in Cuttack

In yet another police crackdown on adulterated cement manufacturing units in the city, police seized over 400 bags of impure cement from a location at Peer Bazar under the Cuttack Sadar police station on Thursday. The police had also unearthed a similar unit from Jagatpur in May this year.

According to police, some unscrupulous persons were engaged in preparing adulterated cement in a makeshift godown at Peer Bazar for last several months. Gathering reliable information, a police party raided the unit and stumbled upon huge quantities of adulterated cement neatly packed in several bags having logos of popular and branded companies dealing with cement.

“Besides the cement bags, we seized all the equipments and tool kits used for packing the bags,” said a senior officer, adding that six persons were detained in this connection for investigations and no arrests were made till last reports were received.
