A school bus driver hit a BMTC bus near Sheshadripuram College on Doddaballapur Road on Friday around 7.45 a.m. Fortunately, there were no children on board. According to the police, Manjunath was on his way to pick up students of a private school in Yelahanka. He sustained a fracture on his right leg and other injuries.
The Yelahanka traffic police have registered a case against Manjunath for reckless driving and seized the school bus, which was being operated by a private company.
Mullahalli Suri, president of the Parents’ Association, said in such cases, the police and the RTO should fix the responsibility on school managements to increase accountability.
“Schools should stop engaging private companies to ferry students, as it’s always risky. The association has been requesting the police and the RTO for several years to take stringent measures to regulate school buses,” he said.
