Panel upset over delay in audit reports of WII

New Delhi: A Parliamentary Panel on Thursday expressed disappointment over delays ranging from three to 27 months in tabling the annual reports and audited accounts of Wildlife Institute of India (WII) in the House since 2011 and asked the Environment Ministry to give reasons within 30 days in such cases. By not according due seriousness to this matter, the Ministry “in a way failed” in their accountability and duty towards Parliament, the Panel said.

2-day training event for judicial officer held

New Delhi: A two-day intensive training programme on supervisory and administrative skills for the judicial officers was organised by the Delhi Judicial Academy here recently. As WILGA, an NGO engaged in advocacy on women's rights, took the session on the sexual harassment at workplace, the participants including those from Delhi Higher Judicial Services and Delhi Judicial Services agreed that much more was needed to be done to increase awareness and sensitivity for tackling such reported cases.

WB Ok’s Rs 6K cr ground water scheme: Govt

New Delhi: The World Bank has approved Atal Bhujal Yojana (ABHY), a Rs 6,000 crore scheme, for sustainable management of ground water to be implemented over a period of five years from 2018-19 to 2022-23 in the identified over-exploited and water stressed areas in Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, said Union Minister of State for Water Resources Arjun Ram Meghwal in a written reply in Lok Sabha on Thursday.

26 cases of mid-air miss reported till June 2018

New Delhi: Twenty six cases of mid-air miss or when aircraft come on collision course were reported over the Indian air space this year till June, Parliament was informed on Thursday. The number of such incidents was 28 last year and 32 in 2016, Minister of State for Civil Aviation Jayant Sinha said in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha.

Ensure FIRs in train theft: MHA to states

New Delhi: Concerned over a large number of railway passengers often falling prey to thieves, the Centre has asked all State Governments to ensure proactive registration of FIRs and investigation of such cases so that it would act as a deterrent for criminals. In a communication to chief secretaries of States and administrators of Union Territories, the Home Ministry said offences against railway passengers like theft, robbery are registered and investigated by the GRP of States responsible for prevention.
