Tusker tramples boy to death in Sundargarh

A ten-year-old boy was trampled to death by a tusker on Wednesday night in Amrudhi village under the Lahunipara PS in Sundargarh district. The deceased was identified as Biswanath Munda.

Sources said a herd of twenty elephants had entered into the village and crushed the boy. Informed by locals, forest officials went to the spot and drove away the herd on Thursday.

Assistant Conservator of Forest Dilip Sahoo said, “We have handed over Rs 20,000 to the victim's family”. The rest amount of Rs 3.80 lakh would be paid to the family after completion of formalities, he added.
