Raje’s poll yatra chariot set to roll on Saturday

The chief minister will be touring 165 of 200 assembly constituencies covering a stretch of more than 6,000 km.

The stage is set for chief minister Vasundhara Raje’s 40-day ‘Rajasthan Gaurav Yatra’ with BJP making last-minute preparations at JK Stadium in Kankroli in Rajsamand, the venue of the inaugural day event.

Raje will fly to Charbhuja temple in Rajsamand from Jaipur on Saturday morning. BJP president Amit Shah is scheduled to reach Charbhuja temple at 11.40 am to flag off the yatra.

After visiting the temple, Raje and Shah are scheduled to address a rally at JK stadium at 1 pm. The party has claimed that nearly two lakh BJP workers will attend the event.

On Friday, a puja of the rath (bus) was conducted at the CM’s home in the Civil Lines area.

BJP leaders are leaving no stone unturned to ensure that the yatra goes off smoothly. State BJP president Madanlal Saini and other senior leaders are busy mobilising the workers for the upcoming rally on Saturday. Higher education minister Kiran Maheshwari has been monitoring the arrangements in Kankroli since the last few days.

Most MLAs are in their respective constituency mobilising the party workers in their areas for the rally that the party aims to make a historic one.

The chief minister will be touring 165 of 200 assembly constituencies covering a stretch of more than 6,000 km. The yatra is slated to conclude in Pushkar, Ajmer with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally.

After the conclusion of the yatra, major programmes will be organised in the remaining 35 assembly constituencies before the assembly elections to ensure that the message of “good governance” reaches the people.

The yatra will be carried out for seven days in three major divisions Udaipur, Jodhpur and Ajmer and in other divisions, it will be of four to six-day duration. Raje will be holding 135 public meetings during the yatra.

Talking to reporters at the CM’s house on Friday, Madanlal Saini said that the rath yatra will ensure that the BJP will soon return to power with more than 180 seats.
