Plus-II girl drugged, raped in Baleswar

A Plus-II first year girl was allegedly raped by a youth after being drugged at Karanjabindha village under the Khantapada police limits in the district on July 28. Police investigation into the incident is on.

Sources said that when the girl was going to Gopalpur College, the accused identified as Kahnu Charan Jena of Digbhanra village managed to take her to his house, drugged her and later raped her several times. After the incident came to the fore, a meeting was held in the village to settle the matter but in vain.

Later, the girl lodged an FIR at the Khantapada police station, following which the police registered a case and sent the girl for medical examination.

“I was on my way to college when he gagged me with a handkerchief and took me to his house and raped me there,” the girl told police. Jena, who is married and has two children, has been absconding after the incident. Search is on to nab the accused, police said.
