NRL dismiss Wighton's appeal, 10-week ban to stand

The NRL has dismissed Jack Wighton's appeal and the Canberra Raiders fullback's 10-week ban and $30,000 fine will stand.

Wighton asked for a reduction of his suspension, with the Raiders initially imposing a six-week ban.

The suspension came after he pleaded guilty to five counts of assault and one of public urination in the ACT Magistrates Court.

"After considering the response, the NRL had determined that the original proposed penalty should stand," an NRL spokesperson said in a statement released on Friday.

More to come.
