A 50-year-old Rothwell man has been charged with the murder of a 75-year-old Mango Hill woman, who was found dead at her home on Thursday.

Queensland Police were called to the Topaz Drive home at 1pm where they found the woman dead, and the man, who was known to her, with serious injuries.

He was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital in a serious condition.
