Jazeera flight from Kuwait catches fire at Hyd airport

149 passengers aboard the Kuwait-Hyderabad flight of Jazeera airlines had a narrow escape as one of the engines of the aircraft caught fight soon after landing at the Shamshabad International Airport in the wee hours of Thursday.

According to the officials the incident occurred at 1-35 am as the Jazeer flight J9 608 landed at the Shamshabad airport. As the right side engine of the aircraft caught fire, an alert pilot immediately switched off the engine and stopped the flight on the taxiway as the fire engines rushed to the scene and brought the fire under control. Later the flight was brought to its allotted Bay No 59 and all the passengers disembarked safefly. Nobody was harmed in the incident. Officials said that the probe was being conducted into the cause of the mishap but sources said that a technical problem was being suspected.
