Shelter home case: No leniency for guilty, says Nitish Kumar

Taking stern note of the Muzaffarpur shelter home rape case, Kumar on Friday assured that no leniency will be shown towards the culprits.

Addressing a gathering at "Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana" programme, Kumar said, "This incident has ashamed us. The (CBI) is investigating the case. The should monitor this case."

On July 24, 11 employees of the girls shelter home in Muzaffarpur were arrested for allegedly sexually harassing the girls. On receiving information, the police raided the vicinity and rescued 44 girls.

Further promising strict action, asserted that all those found guilty will be severely punished.

"I would like to assure everyone that no leniency will be shown towards anyone, all those found guilty will be severely punished," the added.

The incident that came to light more than a month ago has invited a huge outrage in Bihar, with Opposition demanding the resignation of the The Rashtriya (RJD) has also called for a nationwide strike on August 4 in Delhi's over the incident.
