The National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Wednesday directed attachment of salaries of erring officers of the CISF and Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPRD) for non-compliance with orders pertaining to the removal of illegal constructions in the Delhi Ridge.
A Bench headed by NGT chairperson Adarsh Kumar Goel also directed the officials concerned to submit a compliance report by September 15, and said that the salaries of the officers will be attached till the report is filed.
Without clearance
The directions came while the green panel was hearing a plea filed by an NGO that alleged that the CISF and BPRD had started construction in the Ridge area without requisite environmental clearance.
Earlier, a fine of ₹10 lakh had been levied on the authorities and asked the CISF and the BPRD to provide details of the number of tube wells in the respective premises and the amount of groundwater drawn.
