Pakistan's today disqualified a of former from holding a public office for five years on charges of contempt for making anti-judiciary remarks.

The court had initiated contempt proceedings against Chaudry for "derogatory and contemptuous speeches/statements" related to the court, according to a notification issued on February 2.

The court also slapped a fined of Rs0.1 million on him.

Following the conviction, Chaudry, who lost the July 25 from Faisalabad's NA-102 constituency, will be disqualified from holding public office for five years.

He can file a review petition against the judgment.

Chaudry is the second PML-N convicted for contempt of court.
