Notorious gangster Sheikh Usman Ali alias Tito, who has been arrested last month by the Special Task Force (STF) of the Crime Branch and is currently under the custody of Kendrapada court, was on Wednesday entangled in a 2016 tender-fixing case registered in the Chauliaganj police station here.

Allowing a plea of the Commissionerate police, sources said, the SDJM Court of Cuttack Sadar has entangled Tito in the three-year-old tender-fixing case. The source further added that the Cuttack court  has intimated the Kendrapada SDJM Court to spare the accused to be prosecuted in the Cuttack case also.

It may be mentioned that charge-sheets in the Chauliaganj tender-fixing case had already been filed against eight other persons, who were arrested by the Commissionerate police on different days in February-March 2016. All the accused are facing charges under Sections 386, 387, 120-B of IPC and Sections 25 and 26 of the Arms Act.

Notably, several police stations of the Commissinerate police have also received allegations against Tito for his alleged involvement in tender-fixing in the Mahanadi Barrage Division, Drainage Division and Roads and Building Division. Allegations are also there against Tito for allegedly extorting money at gunpoint from commuters on the Cuttack-Paradip and Cuttack-Jagatsinghpur roads.
