Recently, research firm IDC released the report on global smartphone shipments for the second quarter of 2018. As per the report, South Korean tech giant has emerged as the number one smartphone manufacturer across the globe.

The company managed to maintain its top position despite the year-over-year fall of 10.4% in shipments. Samsung has 20.9% market in the second quarter. Samsung claims the slowdown is due to both intensified competition at the high end and an overall sluggish smartphone market. However, it aims to witness a boost in sale after the launch of its Galaxy Note 9 smartphone.
