Brian Tunks from Bison ceramics moves into glorious glass
It's hard to believe Bison, that much-loved line of ceramics that was born from the imagination of Brian Tunks and fired in the kilns of Pialligo, is celebrating its 21st birthday this year.
Not least because Tunks seems not to have aged a day. Still, it is the big 21 and Tunks is celebrating the best way he knows how - by continuing to innovate and explore.
On Friday, he is launching the new Brian Tunks glass collection at the Bison stores in Pialligo and Braddon.
The glorious, jewel-toned vases, bowls and vessels are all hand-finished and unique.
Tunks, who founded Bison ceramics in 1997, has over the last 21 years pushed the business from a "purely ceramic company to bisonhome, a lifestyle range with ceramics at its heart''.
The glass collection is the latest example of that evolution, started more than three years ago but launched this week for the first time under the Brian Tunks name.
He is bringing his designs to life with the help of a company that has also worked with Fendi and Armani that is actually blowing and cutting the glass.
"They wanted to work with me which is really flattering,'' he said.
"This work is just going to building into bigger installation pieces for public spaces.'' So watch this space.
Brian on Friday will be between the Bison stories in Beltana Road, Pialligo and Lonsdale Street, Braddon to launch the glass collection and answer customers' questions on design and colour.
