Restomod Jaguar E-Type Combines Modern Practicality With Classic Styling

This 1974 Jaguar E-Type Series 3 has been fully restored and upgraded with modern features, a process that took 3,000 man hours to complete.

Commissioned by an overseas customer, the car is the work of E-Type UK, which took care of the exterior, cabin and oily bits.

Work included inner sill strengthening, extended welded bonnet louvers, stainless steel bumpers on both ends with over-riders and factory hardtop improved with Dynamat, in addition to one-off 16-inch wheels.

Inside, the E-Type team added extra sound deadening, bespoke leather, lowered seat base with heated seats, air conditioning, km/h converted speedo, LED lighting in the dashboard, footwells and boot, and piano black trim. Choosing his favorite tunes will be easier for the customer, as this Jaguar E-Type has a surround sound system, too, with Bluetooth and iPod functionality.

The original Jaguar E-Type wasn’t reliable to begin with, but this issue appears to have been overcome in this example, whose engine was fully rebuilt and reworked. The original unit was 5.3 liters in capacity, but it was increased to 6.1 liters and fitted with a fuel injection system, Emerald ECU and custom wiring loom.

As proven on the dyno, 284PS (280hp / 209kW) are being channeled to the rear wheels through a new five-speed manual gearbox.

Other work included the addition of an adjustable suspension with sports torsion bars, 4-pot AP Racing brakes with vented disks at the front, and sports steering rack.

And as a final touch, the car now benefits from daytime running lights (DRLs), as well.
