A tutor was detained by police on Wednesday on the charge of sexually exploiting as many as five minor girl students at different occasions at Talesara village under the Kundheigola police limits in Deogarh district.

Rabindra Sahu had allegedly been committing the crime for the last three months. Fearing social stigma, the victims did not dare to bring their ordeal to the fore.

However, parents of two of the girls confronted the teacher on Monday over the matter. Later, they lodged a complaint with police in this regard. Acting on the complaint, police on Wednesday detained the tutor for questioning.

“On the basis of the statements of the five students, we are investigating into the incident.

The girls have been sent for medical examination and the accused is being questioned,” a police official said.
