New Delhi: An employee of Bollywood singer Mika Singh, who had run away after stealing around ₹3 lakh from his residence in Mumbai, was arrested in Delhi on Tuesday night.
Ankit Vasan, a resident of Uttam Nagar, had been working with the singer as an editor for the last 15 years. He was the prime suspect as he was seen leaving the building in CCTV footage. A case of theft has been registered at Oshiwara police station.
On Tuesday night, constable Mahender and head constable Vinod got a tip-off about the suspect. “We formed teams and searched over 60 houses. Mr. Vasan was nabbed from a house in Vikaspuri. He was brought to Kirti Nagar police station. We have also informed the Oshiwara police about the arrest,” Vijay Kumar, DCP (West), said.
During interrogation, Mr. Vasan confessed that he used to steal cash and other valuables, but was never caught. On Sunday, Mr. Singh got to know of his activities. Mr. Vasan fled from the singer’s studio/office and hid in Mumbai for two days before landing in Delhi on Tuesday.
“We have recovered $6,900 and ₹50,000 in cash from the house, and ₹5 lakh from three bank accounts, a hard disc containing music software, and keys of the studio from him,” Mr. Kumar said.
