3 mobile phone snatchers held, 5 phones seized

Coimbatore: Three youths, who were involved in a series of mobile phone snatching cases, were arrested here on Thursday. Police have seized five mobile phones and a motorcycle from them. The arrested were identified as R Arunkumar, 23, S Ramesh, 21, both hailing from Selvapuram, and U Kannadhasan, 22, of Chetty Street in the city.
Arunkumar was employed with a welding workshop, while Ramesh was a carpenter and Kannadasan was working in a chicken stall in the city. “They were childhood friends,” an investigation official said.

According to the official, Arunkumar has two mobile phone snatching cases pending against him, while Ramesh was facing 10 cases at Big Bazaar Street, RS Puram and Peelamedu police station limits. “Kannadhasan is involved more than 50 mobile phone snatching cases.” The RS Puram (crime) police registered three cases against the trio, who were remanded in judicial custody by the judicial magistrate-I in the evening. Later, they were lodged at the Coimbatore Central Prison.
