CHANDIGARH: The Punjab and Haryana high court has decided to conduct last year’s Haryana Civil Service (judicial) examination again this year because questions of the preliminary examination had been leaked.
An advertisement would soon be released by the high court administration. A formal information in this regard was provided to a full bench of the HC on Tuesday, during the resumed hearing of a case related to the paper-leak scam.
A large number of candidates had approached the bench, seeking directions to conduct the exam again. Last year, the HC had advertised for 109 posts.
The full bench comprises Chief Justice Krishna Murari, Justice Rajesh Bindal, Justice Rajan Gupta, Justice Gurmeet Singh Sandhawalia and Justice Arun Palli.
During the hearing of the case on Wednesday, Chandigarh Police told the bench that three suspects had been made accused and efforts were on to arrest them.
HC was also informed that over 1,700 calls were exchanged between accused Sunita and the then HC registrar (recruitment), Balwinder Sharma.
The matter will now come up for hearing on August 16. The bail pleas of Sunita and Sharma would also be heard then.
The scam was unearthed after Suman, a resident of
Pinjore in Panchkula district, had filed a petition before HC seeking registration of a criminal case into leakage of the examination.
An internal probe had found registrar Sharma responsible for leaking the paper to one of the candidates, Sunita. Later, the case was registered and an SIT was constituted to probe the matter. As of now, the SIT has arrested several person, including Sharma. The trial of the case is pending before the Chandigarh district court.
