DC launches Swacch Sarvekshan - Gramin

In an attempt to expand the reach of ‘Swacchta Abhiyaan’ across the rural belts as well besides just covering the urban vicinities, Ranchi DC Rai Mahimapat Ray formally launched the much awaited cleanliness survey for rural areas – Swacch Sarvekshan -- Gramin on Wednesday. As per the communiqué of GoI, the survey will continue till August 31. Covering ten selected villages of the State, the survey will be done. The team during the visit will visit 50 public places of the selected villages to collect first hand information from the rural populace about the measures being taken up to keep their respective villages clean.

As per the data of the district administration, by far, Open Defecation Free (ODF) rate has reached up to 84 per cent in Ranchi District against the 40 per cent ODF rate in 2014.

Notably, the State government has kept the target of declaring Jharkhand ODF by October 2, 2018. Ranchi DC on the occasion instructed the officials to speed up the task and achieve the target at the earliest.

Meanwhile, Ranchi DC stated that attempts must be made to popularize the concept and use of ‘Biogas’ among the villagers. Ray asked the officials to chalk out a proper plan of action to spread awareness about biogas utility which is a best form of green energy among the rural populace in the Ranchi District.
