2018-08-02 20:52

Cape Town - South Africa's Wayde van Niekerk and Caster Semenya are among the 13 athletes inducted into the African Athletics Confederation (CAA) Hall of Fame.

The event, which was organised by the CAA and the Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency, was held at the Event Center in Asaba in Nigeria.

According to Nigerian newspaper The Punch, out of the 16 inductees only two were in attendance - Nigerian Blessing Okagbare-Ighoteguonor and Olusoji Fasuba.

The publication continued saying that the event started five hours late, which forced athletes like Semenya to stay away.

It was also reported that the Ethiopians and Kenyans could not attend as they arrived in Asaba late on Tuesday after being stranded in Lagos.
