Smuggled gold worth Rs 3.32 cr seized in TN, three held

Gold weighing 11.15 kg and worth Rs 3.32 crore, allegedly smuggled into the country from was seized and three people arrested in this connection, DRI officials said today.

Acting on a tip, the Directorate of officials intercepted a bus proceeding towards from Ramanathapuram, yesterday and recovered the gold concealed in the baggages belonging to three passengers.

During interrogation, the trio confessed that the gold was smuggled into by sea from the island nation and they were transporting it to "for a monetary consideration."

The officials are on the lookout to nab those behind the smuggling of the gold, it added.
