30,000 USD won't really help you if you want to buy a Ferrari, unless you're in for some super fancy Ferrari merchandise. But have you ever imagined that a book about an expensive car manufacturer would also be this costly?
Publisher Taschen is set to release a limited-edition book for fans of Ferrari, who are willing shell out an exorbitant amount of $30,000 to buy a special "Art Edition", reports CNN.
There are two versions of the book. The $6,000 version is limited to 1,697 copies, and comes tucked inside an aluminium display case. Each copy is autographed by the vice chairman of Ferrari, Piero Ferrari, and the founder's son, Enzo Ferrari.
According to Taschen's website, The "Art Edition" is "elevated by a sculpture evocative of the 12-cylinder engine in hand-bent, flared chromed steel." To put it simply, the book comes with a metal stand.
"A project conceived in close collaboration with Ferrari, this massive tome is a veritable collector’s piece," the publisher writes. "A production unparalleled in scale, it features exclusive content from the Ferrari Archives and private collections around the world, bringing together hundreds of unseen photographs and documents to reveal the unique story behind Ferrari’s victories, its protagonists, and its legacy."
Taschen is famous for its luxuriously designed art books. It creates several collectible editions that are often priced too high. For instance, a book about Tibetan murals is priced at $12,000; a book featuring the artwork of Christo and Jeanne-Claude was marketed at $50,000. A book with XXL editions of
Moon with photographs and a moon rock sells for $375,000.
Pino Allieviis is an Italian writer who specializes in the history of automobiles. The book, simply titled Ferrari, will be published this year in October.
