UVAS lauds UGC for new regulations

The Unnatha Vidyabhyasa Adhyapaka Sangham (UVAS), Kerala unit of the Akhil Bharatiya Rashtriya Saikshik Mahasangh, has welcomed the new regulations issued by the University

Grants Commission concerning performance assessment, service and benefits of teachers.

The outfit congratulated Union Human Resources Development Minister Prakash Javdekar and the UGC Chairman for accepting most of the suggestions and inputs put forward by it for teacher welfare, it said in a statement.

Most of the provisions of the new norms like abolition of the API—PBAS system, continuance of additional increments for MPhil, PhD, five-hour workplace stay instead of seven hours as given in the draft regulation, promotion chance for all teachers to be professors, fixation of 14-16 hours work load, etc were welcome changes that gave relief to higher education teachers.
