GUWAHATI: The Gauhati high court on Wednesday granted interim bail to Pallavi Sharma, an accused in the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC)'s cash-for-job scam, to visit her ailing MP father RP Sharma who has undergone kidney transplant a few days ago.
Though a lower court had rejected her bail plea earlier, the high court granted her an interim bail for two weeks to pay a visit to her ailing father. She was among the 19 state government officials held by Dibrugarh Police in connection eith the APSC scam. She was accused of forging her selection in the APSC in 2016.

Following her arrest, her father had claimed that she was framed as part of a political conspiracy and appealed to police to release her on humanitarian grounds as she was one of the donors. The MP was admitted to a Kolkata hospital last month where he underwent kidney transplant.

So far, Dibrugarh Police have arrested 67 people, including former APSC chairman Rakesh Kumar Paul and over 55 government officials, recruited under his tenure.
