LUDHIANA: The police on Wednesday arrested a 26-year-old man for raping a 14-year-old girl of his locality. The girl was alone at he home when the accused reportedly took her to his rented accommodation and raped her. He also threatened girl that he would kill her family if she told anyone about the incident.
In her complaint to police, the girl’s mother said that her husband worked as a labourer while she was a homemaker. On June 28 she had gone to her native place in
Uttar Pradesh leaving her three children and husband at home. When she returned home on July 30, her daughter said that the accused had forcibly taken her to his rented accommodation and raped her. He also threatened her with dire consequences if she told anyone about the incident .
Following this the family lodged a police complaint.
Investigating officer assistant sub inspector (ASI) Simranjeet Kaur said a case under sections of 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC and the Prevention of Children form Sexual Offences (
POSCO) Act had been registered against the accused.
The official added that the accused was arrested on Wednesday.
