HMD teases new smartphone launch in India days after Nokia 6.1 Plus support page goes live

HMD has made it loud and clear that it plans to expand its ‘Nokia’ smartphone portfolio this year, targeting different price segments. Few weeks ago it launched the Nokia 3.1, 5.1 and the Nokia 6.1. Soon, the handset maker also launched the Nokia 6.1 Plus, which is the more powerful version of the Nokia 6.1, in Hong Kong. Now it looks like the device is set to make an entry in the Indian smartphone market.
Nokia Mobile India’s official Twitter page has asked fans to tell which Nokia device is their favourite. Answering it on a dedicated web page will give them a chance to witness the next exclusive launch event. The firm has not yet revealed the date of the launch or what it will be launching in the country. However, the Nokia 6.1 Plus is said to be the handset that is about to launch given that the smartphone’s support page went live in India recently.
In addition to this, a user guide on the website also says that the smartphone follows rules set by DoT (Department of Telecommunications) India, cementing the rumours. “Your mobile device is also designed to meet the requirements for exposure to radio waves established by the India Department of Telecommunications. These requirements set a SAR limit of 1.6 W/kg averaged over one gram of tissue,” said the Nokia 6.1 Plus guide.
Although there is no word on the India pricing, we at least know the handset’s price in Hong Kong, where the device costs HKD 2,288 (roughly Rs 20,100) and comes in Blue and White colour variants.
Some of the key specifications of the smartphone include 5.8-inch full-HD+ display with notch, octa-core Snapdragon 636 SoC, 4GB RAM, 16MP+5MP rear camera sensor, 16MP front camera and 3060mAh in-built battery.
