The directions were issued after a bench headed by chairperson Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel disposed of a nearly four-year-old case on air pollution in the capital.
The order further stated that new diesel vehicles, which are not BS-IV or those not needed for essential services (such as ambulances, petrol, food carriers, fire service, sewer cleaning machines), should not be registered.
Citing its earlier order dated December 11, 2015, the tribunal declined a number of applications seeking permission to continue use of 10-year-old diesel vehicles or those which were not BS-IV compliant.
