Accusing the BJP-led Central government and the Delhi Police of being hands in glove with international human trafficking syndicates, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday argued that CCTVs installed across the Capital could have a positive impact in identifying locations and people connected to the crime.
‘Police did not bother’
Citing back-to-back operation which led to the rescue of allegedly trafficked women from Munirka, Maidan Garhi and Paharganj over the last few days, AAP spokesperson Saurabh Bharadwaj alleged that the police were bothered neither with investigating such cases nor taking action related to them.
“The initiative of the Delhi Commission for Women helped in rescuing many women...who were brought from Nepal and nearby areas and were about to be trafficked to other countries like Dubai, Saudi Arabia and Sri Lanka. The trafficking of women from Nepal has been going on in Delhi from a very long time but the police did not bother to investigate the matter and take action against it,” he said.
Mr. Bharadwaj, further, alleged that not a single FIR had been registered in the name of human trafficking in Delhi which, he alleged, “proved the carelessness of the police and the Central government” whom, he alleged further, were “assumed to have an internal connection with the international syndicate”.
‘Turns a blind eye’
“They are the ones who shout out slogans against a cow being trafficked but turn deaf and dumb on the trafficking of girls who are brought from different countries and kept in Delhi and later on sold to other countries...If Delhi had been equipped with CCTV cameras, then it would have been much easier to find out places and people involved in trafficking,” Mr. Bharadwaj said.
