As many as 16 persons were injured after a private bus fell on a car near Adyar Arkula on the Mangaluru-Bengaluru national highway on Wednesday afternoon.
The Mangaluru Traffic South police said that the private bus from Vitla was heading towards Mangaluru and the car from Mangaluru was going towards Mysuru.
The driver lost control of the bus when one of its tyres got deflated and it hit the median and then fell over the car.
Onlookers helped the car driver U.B. Nayak, 60, and his wife Sujatha, 56, from Bridavan Layout in Mysuru, come out of the mangled vehicle. The two and the 11 injured bus passengers were rushed to a private hospital nearby.
As many as two injured commuters were taken to a private hospital in Falnir, while one injured bus commuter was admitted to the Government Wenlock Hospital. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime and Traffic) Uma Prashant said the injured are out of danger.
