Nagpur: In a unique way to improve cleanliness across its stations in the division, the Nagpur Central Railway (CR) has launched a WhatsApp number (7410089004) through which passengers can send images and get the job done.
According to railway sources, the initiative by divisional railway manager (DRM) Somesh Kumar, Nagpur, is the first division across CR to launch the system. Two days ago, it was launched in Western Railway. It seems to be part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Swachha Bharat Abhiyan’.

If a passenger observes lack of clean toilets at stations and unclean premises, then he/she can send images on the above WhatsApp number, which will available round-the-clock.

When contacted, senior divisional commercial manager (SrDCM) KK Mishra confirmed that the service was launched from Wednesday. “As soon as the images are received, action will be taken to rectify the problem. Not only this, we will respond to the complainant after correcting the problem on the same number,” said Mishra.

Mishra added, “Railways is connected with every citizen of this country and hence, it is necessary for us to maintain clean environment on its premises.” He said though dustbins have been installed on the premises, railway stations have open boundaries and it is the responsibility of the administration and citizens to maintain cleanliness.
