Students to be made job-ready

Tirupur: The state government will include skill training in school curriculum, said school education minister K A Sengottaiyan.
Speaking at a skill development workshop at Jaivabai Corporation Girls’ Higher Secondary School here on Thursday, the minister said lakhs of engineering graduates were unemployed in the state. “The number of unemployed engineering graduates has touched 1.6 lakh. To make school students job-ready before entering college, the government will include skill training in Class XII,” he said.

Besides, the government will provide coaching to school students to crack chartered accountant (CA) exams. “The department will select 25,000 Class XII students from government schools. Since CAs are in demand, the commerce students could use the service.”

He said the department will establish 30,000 smart classrooms in government schools this academic year. tnn
