Punjab Cultural Mission to connect youth with State’s rich heritage

Punjab Kala Parishad (Arts Council) has established ‘Punjab Cultural Mission’ to connect Punjabi youth with the extremely rich and glorious cultural heritage of Punjab.

Transforming into reality the state Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu’s dream to have a cultural parliament, the intellectuals under the leadership of Punjab Kala Parishad chairman Padama Shri Dr Surjit Patar on Wednesday decided to set up a cultural mission which would work at various levels — right from the level of headquarter to the village level — so as to connect the youth with Punjab’s rich cultural and historical heritage.

Noted Punjabi singer Pammi Bai has been given the responsibility of heading the 14-member mission. The members, hailing from the art, cultural and literary fields, include Dr Patar, Panjab Kala Parishad secretary general Dr Lakhwinder Singh Johal, noted choreographer Principal Inderjit Singh, senior journalist Satnam Singh Manak, noted actor Gurpreet Ghuggi, famous singer Sukhi Brar, Dr Nirmal Jaura, Dr Jasbir Kaur Rishi, Ninder Ghugianvi, Dr Surjit (Patiala), Dr Gursewak Lambi (Patiala), Yadwinder Sidhu and Ashok Bansal.

The main aim of the Mission is to start such a strong renaissance in Punjab which would boost the healthy and moral traditions of the society besides connecting youth with fine arts, and moral values, said the spokesperson adding that the Mission would cover all the villages in the state through appointment of the district level convenors.
