An employee of singer Mika Singh has been arrested for stealing around ₹3 lakh from the latter’s residence in Mumbai, the Delhi Police said on Wednesday.
They said that accused Ankit Vasan, a resident of Uttam Nagar, has been arrested from a house in west Delhi’s Vikaspuri. Vasan was working with Mr. Singh as an editor. He was the prime suspect in the theft case as he was seen leaving the building in the CCTV footage.
Constable Mahender and Head Constable Vinod received a tip-off about Vasan on Tuesday. A case of theft was registered at Oshiwara police station in Mumbai.
“We formed teams and searched more than 60 houses. Vasan was arrested from Vikaspuri. He was brought to the Kirti Nagar police station for further questioning. We have also informed Oshiwara police station in Mumbai about the arrest,” said DCP (West) Vijay Kumar.
Vasan had been working with Mr. Singh as an editor for a few years. He would steal cash and other valuables but never got caught. After Mr. Singh got to know about his activities on Sunday, Vasan fled from the studio and hid in Mumbai for two days. He came to Delhi on Tuesday.
“We have recovered $ 6,900, ₹50,000 cash, a hard disk containing music software, and keys to the studio from his possession . He had ₹5 lakh in three bank accounts,” Mr. Kumar added.
