Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party national convener Arvind Kejriwal had been given a clean chit in the allegation of corruption levelled against him by former Minister Kapil Mishra last year, the AAP said on Tuesday.
Mr. Mishra, who was a Minister in Mr. Kejriwal’s Cabinet, had been removed from the post on May 6, 2017. The next day he made allegations of corruption against Mr. Kejriwal and Health Minister Satyendar Jain, following which he was suspended from the party.
Over a year later, AAP spokesperson Saurabh Bharadwaj, reacting to a news report on Tuesday, said the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Delhi Lokayukta had given Mr. Kejriwal a clean chit in the case.
Mr. Bharadwaj said that while Mr. Mishra had claimed he had witnessed Mr. Kejriwal taking ₹2 crore from Mr. Jain at the Chief Minister’s residence on May 5, the CCTV footage for that day showed that Mr. Mishra had not visited.
Mr. Mishra stuck by his allegation, saying he was ready to take a lie detector test along with Mr. Kejriwal and Mr. Jain.
